Compliance and insurance

Any haulier can tell you they are insured. Ask most of them for the certificate and you wait three days. This page exists so your procurement team can get what it needs without a chain of emails.

Credentials

What we hold

Below is what we carry. Where a reference number or cover limit is not shown on this page it is because we publish figures only once they are confirmed against the certificate, and we would rather send you the document than paraphrase it.

Credential Reference or limit What it means
Companies House registration On request Registered in England and Wales
Goods Vehicle Operator Licence On request Issued by the Traffic Commissioner, required to operate goods vehicles for hire or reward
Goods in transit insurance On request Covers your freight while it is in our care
Public liability insurance On request Covers third party injury or property damage at your premises
Employers liability insurance On request Statutory cover for our drivers and staff

What we do not yet hold

We are not currently FORS accredited and we are not an RHA member. Some tenders require one or both, so it is better you know now than discover it at stage two. Where a contract needs accredited capacity we can place that work with a carrier who holds it, and we will tell you that is what we are doing.

Procurement

Documents for vendor onboarding

If you are setting us up as an approved supplier, these are the documents you are likely to need. Ask and they come back the same working day, not at the end of the week.

Goods Vehicle Operator Licence
Goods in transit insurance certificate
Public liability insurance certificate
Employers liability insurance certificate
Certificate of incorporation
Health and safety policy
Environmental policy
Terms and conditions of carriage
Carrier vetting

How we vet the carriers we use

Our van fleet is our own. For HGV, temperature controlled, ADR and abnormal load work we place jobs with carriers in a vetted network, and this is where the industry hides most of its risk. A carrier with a lapsed policy or the wrong class of cover looks identical to a compliant one until something goes wrong.

Every carrier we place work with is checked on the following, and the checks are repeated rather than done once and forgotten. A carrier who cannot produce current documents does not get the load, regardless of how urgent the job is.

  1. 01 Goods Vehicle Operator Licence valid, in the correct name and of the right type for the work
  2. 02 Goods in transit cover current, with limits appropriate to the value of the freight
  3. 03 Public and employers liability cover current
  4. 04 Insurance exclusions read, not just the certificate headline
  5. 05 Vehicle and driver suitability confirmed for the specific movement
  6. 06 Documents re-checked on expiry rather than filed once at onboarding

We also tell you when a movement is going out to a carrier rather than running on our own vehicle. You are entitled to know who is handling your freight, and hauliers who obscure that are usually obscuring something else too.

Need the compliance pack before you book?

Ask and it comes back the same working day. You can raise a job at the same time.
